Nepal to host first-ever 'International Hot Air balloon festival in Pokhara' from 24 Decemeber 2024 till 01 January, 2025.

The Balloon Nepal Festival 2024 marks Nepal’s first-ever international hot air balloon event. It will feature 25 hot air balloons from across the globe, with participating countries including Spain, France, Lithuania, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand, Austria, USA, Australia, Korea, Italy, UK, Laos, Germany, India, Dubai, and Latvia.


Tribhuvan International Airport handled over 850,000 passengers and 12,000 flights in November

Out of the total passenger count, 429,847 passengers traveled on international flights. Of these, 199,495 passengers arrived in Nepal, while 229,763 departed. The international sector also accounted for 2,648 flight movements throughout the month.


Everest helicopter flights face stronger headwind

As state bodies at all levels, including the local government, are staking their unflinching claim to the skies over the Everest region, serious questions have been raised about Nepal’s high-end tourism prospects.

Nepal to ban commercial helicopter flights to Mt. Qomolangma.​

A local government and other stakeholders in the Mount Qomolangma region of Nepal have decided to forbid commercial flights of helicopters in the region starting from Jan. 1 next year, a local government official said on Wednesday. The decision was made a day earlier on the grounds that such flights affect local economic activities and disturb wildlife, said Mingma Chhiri Sherpa, chairperson of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality.


Nepal’s efforts to save Sarus cranes earn global praise

The International Crane Foundation—a non-profit dedicated to conserving cranes and their habitats worldwide— has commended Nepal’s efforts in protecting sarus cranes (Grus antigone). George Archibald, a renowned conservationist and co-founder of the foundation, said Nepal’s sarus crane conservation is exemplary in the world. During his recent visit in Nepal, Archibald expressed his admiration for the spontaneous initiatives taken by local people to conserve the bird in the Lumbini area.
