Walkaround Suryabinayak Temple, Bhaktapur

On every Tuesday mornings, the people of Kathmandu valley visit to Ganesh Temple with a a faith to get the desired success in their business and life. It is a popular custom to visit any Ganesh temple to earn the blessings, whether, if starting any business, or embarking abroad, or bidding any contractual works.

Likewise, Suryabinayak, is among the four binayaks (Ashoka Binayak, Jal Binayak, Rakta Binayak) is one of the most popular deity. Situated in southern highland of Bhaktapur district, the place is accessible from any direction.

The shrine is surrounded with greenery, you will be able to see parts of Bhaktapur and snow clad peaks in the background.

You can see the Throne, most probably stored for upcoming rituals. The wooden structure is known as Pati, where visitors can sit and relax.​

The stone water tap (a.ka. as Dhungedhara). You may witness the continuous water flowing from this handmade stone tap. You won't find its on/off handle. Prayers wash hands before entering or touching the god's statue.​

You can see beautifully crafted toranas.​

Suryabinayak is strategically placed so that it gets the first rays of the sun.​

The courtyard of this temple has many other deities and statues, such as; Shivalinga, Malla kings and the mount of Lord Ganesha's baahan, Musha (mouse).​

While ascend stairs you can rest at one of these Patis.​

Getting to the temple is not that difficult because there are stairs, not that steep. It is friendly for all ages.​

For leisure activities, there are picnic spots around.
If you go uphill, you can reach Ghyampe Danda (Watch the video on YouTube) and Pilot Baba Ashram, which are another beautiful destinations to visit. You can hike there too.
