Anyone Done Videography at Godawari Botanical Garden Lately? Need Info on Permits, Timing & Setup!

So, does somebody know film and video shoot fees in Godawari?

I’m planning a short (2-3 hrs) video shooting session at Botanical Garden, Godawari, sometime this month—mostly nature b-roll, drone shots (if allowed), and a couple of slow-motion walkthroughs for my YouTube.

We are a group of 5: actors and technical crew.
I heard that the fee was NRs. 5000.00 a day, but not certain if its correct.
The given phone numbers were also invalid.

I wanted to check if anyone here has done videography there recently.
Would really appreciate your tips or updates! Specifically:
  1. Is there a permit/fee for shooting videos inside the garden? What’s the current rate for personal vs. commercial content?

  2. What are the opening and closing hours? I’d love to catch the golden hour light—worth it?

  3. Drone usage – any idea if that’s allowed around the garden premises or nearby trails?
Any recent experience to share (especially if you faced security issues)
Thanks in advance! 🙏

Let me clarify to filmmakers and videographers about the permit fees (with entrance details) for a video shoot.
Yesterday, 08.July.2025 (Tuesday), I went there for location scouting and a fees permit enquiry.

Here're my answers;
Yes, there is a permit/fee for shooting videos, and it is charged daily.
  • Television/Music Video/Video Ads: Rs. 5000/ day
  • Movie Shooting: Rs 10,000/day
  • Move Shooting (For Foreigners): 30,000/day
  • Movie Shooting (For SAARC Nationals): 25,000/day
Notes:
  • You are allowed to bring 2 vehicles inside the botanical garden, for the sake of film-making convenience
  • The gates are open from 10:00 am til 4:00 PM
  • The busy days are...

Hi,
I'm not sure about the Godawari, but once i get info, i will post it here.
I also went for location scouting yesterday,

I thought of ZOO in Jawalakhel as a prime place, so the fees per day are;
  • Cinema: 40,000 NRs
  • Video & Documentary: 25,000 NRs.
I also went to Ganatantra Smarak (a.k.a. Republic Memorial), for the video location, i was told the charge for professional video shooting is Nrs. 15,000.00

Fair enough.
:)

  • There's a decent restaurant in the same building where they allow you to use their dressing room for actors/actresses
  • Public Toilets are available: Yes.
